Ogden Legion Pipe Band

Learn to play the pipes and drums

Thinking of learning to play the pipes or drums?  They are unique yet traditional… check.  They are powerful… double check.  They are melodious… when played well!

Southern Alberta’s premier youth pipe band

The OLPB was formed in 1972. It was originally sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion, Ogden Branch #154 in Southeast Calgary, Canada. Despite the closing of the Ogden Branch, OLPB retained the name and is proud to honour its legion roots. Building on this history, OLPB continues to be Southern Alberta’s premier youth band.

Many of the instructors are previous band members and provide top level instruction. Participation in the band gives the youth many exciting, unique, positive and rewarding experiences. In addition to the exceptional instructors, the band has a supportive parent association and a dedicated group of executives.

Some of the band’s recent accomplishments include:

  • Alberta provincial champions for more than a dozen years at various grade levels including Grade 5 in 2017, Grades 3 and 5 in 2016 and 2015, Grade 4 in 2014.
  • Winner of the 2013 North American Pipe Band Championships – Grade 4.
